Be A Judge
Each year, Michigan DECA depends upon support from our community members to assist us by serving as competitive event judges to help evaluate marketing and customer relations skills of our students that will be competing in the District and State Conferences. During the competition, the high school students will apply their knowledge of entrepreneurship, marketing, merchandising and management in practical real world situations.
DECA members must be out of high school for three years before being eligible to serve as a judge.
2021 Michigan DECA State Conference Schedule:
All State Conference competition will be held virtually this year.
Week of February 22-28, 2021 – Written Event Evaluations – the day and time are flexible around your schedule. You will be reading and evaluating 8-12 student written projects.
The following competition will be interacting live with students using Doxy, an online meeting platform. To ensure a qualify experience for the students, we need all judges to be available from 8:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on the day of judging.
- Tuesday, March 9, 2021 from 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. – Individual Series Events
- Wednesday, March 10, 2021 from 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. – Individual Series, Principles, and Selling Events
- Thursday, March 11, 2021 from 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. – Team Events
- Friday, March 12, 2021 from 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. – Written Event Presentations

8:30 a.m. Judge Welcome and Orientation Meeting
9:05 a.m. Competition begins
12:30 p.m. Finish judging, and enter scores and comments online
