State Leadership Conference

Grand Rapids, Michigan

November 8 and 9, 2017

The 2017 State Leadership Conference provides students with the first opportunity of the year to network and collaborate with members from across the state. The conference will be held at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids on November 8-9, 2017. Engaging workshops and key note speakers are being planned for members attending. Members will also get the time to network with representatives from some of the top colleges in Michigan. A mock competition and a dance will be held for those attending both days of the conference.

Whether you want to learn more about how being a DECA member can help you become LIMITLESS, or are a returning member getting ready for the year ahead, there is something for everyone at the State Leadership Conference!

The first day of the State Leadership Conference will assist members with their competitive event skills; mock competitions will be held Wednesday. The mock competition will be divided up into two groups, first year members will participate in two mock Principles judged scenarios and returning members will participate in two mock Individual series judged scenarios. The scores will be added together and the top 20 in each group will receive recognition. In addition to the mock competition, breakout sessions will be offered on competitive events and DECA programs, so your chapter can participate in a wide range of activities this year.

Chapters may arrive any time between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m., according to the travel plans that best fits their needs. Schools that are available to arrive earlier will be able to participate in more conference workshops.

Thursday’s program will focus on presentations from marketing professionals on business trends and interactive activities for members to develop and use their leadership skills. In addition to these interactive activities, the conference will have sessions on marketing trends, continuing your education and exhibits from colleges, school store suppliers, and fund-raising vendors.
